Debra Westwood is delighted to be working with her longtime friend and interpreting partner Jody Mayer. As the woman-in-black in the corner of the stage, Debi has been providing signed interpretation of concerts, plays, poetry readings and musical theatre, since 1980. She has worked with the Seattle Repertory Theatre, Intiman Theatre, A Contemporary Theater, and The 5th Avenue Theatre and with such luminaries of the women’s music scene as Holly Near, Cris Williamson, Margie Adams, Tret Fure, Meg Christian, and Ferron, as well as Seattle Women’s Ensemble. Debi and Jody have collaborated on numerous plays and concerts and worked together for three seasons at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. A former officer and board member of the Washington State Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, the Family Education and Counseling Center on Deafness, and the American Sign Language Interpreting School, Debi holds a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science and, when not performing or rehearsing with SWC, she manages operations and public services for three libraries on the Eastside.
