A laugh, a chill, and a tear…
- Plenty of laughter.
- The chill that only 200+ perfectly tuned male voices can bring.
- And a tear that is shed as we share our common humanity through music and words.
It’s a simple formula that has produced Tony Award-winning Broadway shows, Oscar-worthy movies,
and many memorable concerts by Seattle Men’s Chorus (SMC).
But sometimes we just want to have fun… which brings us to this spring’s SMC concert.
Olé! Olé! Olé! will have you shaking your booty in the seats and aisles of McCaw Hall as
we take you on a high-energy tour of Latin music in its many forms: salsa, mariachi, tejano, Latino pop, traditional folk,
Latin rock.
Not to be confused with our upcoming blockbuster, “Olie! Olie! Olie” — the riveting music of
Norwegian bachelor farmers — Olé! Olé! Olé! brings you fabulous rhythms and melodies from
Latin and Central America, South America, and Spain. With an array of percussionists, bass, keyboard, trumpets, and
guitars providing the accompaniment, los hombres of SMC will deliver the goods with a program that includes:
- LET’S GET LOUD
- OYE COMO VA
- RHYTHM IS GONNA GET YOU
- CONGA
- BÉSAME MUCHO
- ONE NOTE SAMBA
- GRANADA
- SPANISH EYES
- VALENCIA
- DE COLORES
- EVIL WAYS
- BLACK MAGIC WOMAN
- IN THE HEIGHTS
(TONY-AWARD FOR BEST MUSICAL, 2008)
- GUADALAJARA
- GUANTANAMERA
- I COULD FALL IN LOVE
- COMO LA FLOR
- THE CUP OF LIFE
- LIVIN’ LA VIDA LOCA
- LA LLORONA
It’s the hits of Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan, Santana, Selena, Carmen Miranda, Ricky and Lucy,
and the traditional folk music of cultures known for their love of rhythm, melody, and passion.
As for the formula, you will certainly laugh, and we guarantee that a chill of excitement will run down
your back. I’m not sure about the tears this time (unless you’re a fan of Selena). But I guarantee
you’ll have fun!
