Glee... Cabaret... Heartthrobs

Seattle Men’s Chorus 2010–2011 Season

Holiday Glee — November 27 - December 20, 2010

Holiday Glee will feature a look at American music of the holidays - everything from Appalachian gospel to barbershop harmony to Broadway show tunes to Vegas swing. Like the television series Glee's principal message, Holiday Glee will be a hopeful, joyful, mirthful, merry celebration of “It's OK to be who you are, more importantly, it's OK to celebrate being who you are.”

Life is a Cabaret — April 2 & 3, 2011

Life is a Cabaret will highlight three main aspects of the German music scene in the first half of the 20th centruy and will be presented in three acts.

  • Act 1: focuses on the cultural scene before World War II
  • Act 2: presents a newly commissioned piece entitled For a Look or a Touch, based on the diary of 19-year-old Manfred Lewin written for his lover. Lewin, like many gays, died in the Holocaust.
  • Act 3: offers songs celebrating the healing, the reunification, and the resilience of the human spirit in the aftermath of Germany's destruction.

Heartthrobs — June 24 & 25, 2011

America has had a long love affair with male singing groups. SMC will pay tribute to these groups going back as far as the Ink Spots up to the Jonas Brothers with the Beatles, the Bee Gees, the Temptations, the Osmonds, Menudo, Backsteet Boys, and N'Sync sandwiched in between.
