Lori Surrency

Director - Sensible Shoes
Seattle Women’s Chorus

Member since 2004

Lori Surrency is a transplant from the sunny state of Florida, where she worked extensively as both an accompanist and a musical director. She is proficient in many musical genres including classical, Broadway, jazz, and pop. While in Florida, she served as principal accompanist for Crescendo, Tampa Bay Women’s Chorus, Tampa Bay Men’s Chorus, and Una Voce. Her work as a musical director includes Tampa Bay Men’s Chorus’ small ensemble and numerous professional musical theatre productions in the greater Tampa Bay area.

Since her arrival in Seattle four years ago, Lori has accompanied various choral groups including Vashon Voices and Diverse Harmony. Currently, she works as a musical director for Studio East in Kirkland, introducing the world of musical theatre to elementary and middle school children.

In addition to being a talented pianist, Lori is also a composer and an arranger. She is currently a student in the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program where she is studying with Emmy award-winning film composer, Hummie Mann. She made her national debut as a choral arranger last summer with a showcase of her arrangements of the songs of Cris Williamson.
